Next...?

I want to bring up for debate that we might consider the Inheritance Cycle Series by Christopher Paolini for our next endevor. The third book in the series is being release on 9/20/08 and I was planning on picking it up. The story is a fantasy series about humans, dragons, elves and dwarves. The story surrounds the mythical dragon riders and their history and battle for independence from a tyrannical king. You may have heard of the series when a movie based on the first book, Eragon, was released a few years ago. One of the best parts of this is that the evil despotic king is played by John Malkovich. Anyway, I think this might be a good idea. The first two books are readily available in libraries since they have been out for several years. We will probably have to purchase copies of the third book when it is released, if we have a favorable opinion of the books at that time. Okay, let the debate begin.

Whatever works. I'm not too picky. I used to say "no vampires," but after Twilight I think I need to change my policy... So, I'm up for anything. Let me know if we ALL agree so I can look for it in the library system.

Oh, and my computer died a couple days ago... So I'll send comments and such as my work shedule allows. Should have something up and running next week I'd think.

bummer about the dead computer! i'm fine with it, also, I just need a chance to get them on reserve. something cheerful would be a nice change :)

i guess by cheerful, i mean, less like an addiction, and more like reading. reading this series has made me feel like a junkie looking for her next fix -- "I gotta get to Wal Mart! I don't care what time it is, I gotta get the next book!"

The first two books in the series are Eragon and Eldest. Again the author's name is Paolini, Christopher. The third book is being released on 9/20/08. I would recommend getting on the list for it now. Ask the teen/children's librarian for help. While the books are not cheerful, necessarily, they are heartwarming. Good vs. Evil sort of thing. I would also be up for a complete departure from fantasy if that better fits the mood. We could do some humor, some non fiction or even reread a few of the classics mentioned in these books. I'm pretty much a go for anything but we need to have decision soon.
