Bonk!

Hey, I found this book at the bookstore last week. I put it on reserve at the library. There are four copies and four people ahead of me in line so it might be a while. But I thought it might be a good read. Sounds interesting and funny and I think we will have some great conversations about it.

Per book jacket and barnesandnoble.com :

Synopsis
The
best-selling author of Stiff turns her outrageous curiosity and infectious wit on the most alluring scientific subject of all: sex.The study of sexual physiology—what happens, and why, and how to make it happen better—has been a paying career or a diverting sideline for scientists as far-ranging as Leonardo da Vinci and James Watson. The research has taken place behind the closed doors of laboratories, brothels, MRI centers, pig farms, sex-toy R&D labs, and Alfred Kinsey's attic.

Mary Roach, "the funniest science writer in the country" (Burkhard Bilger of The New Yorker), devoted the past two years to stepping behind those doors. Can a person think herself to orgasm? Can a dead man get an erection? Is vaginal orgasm a myth? Why doesn't Viagra help women—or, for that matter, pandas? In Bonk, Roach shows us how and why sexual arousal and orgasm, two of the most complex, delightful, and amazing scientific phenomena on earth, can be so hard to achieve and what science is doing to slowly make the bedroom a more satisfying place. 16 illustrations.

I think this should be our next book. Let me hear your thoughts.

I ordered it. I read one chapter; it was pretty interesting... I'm excited to read it. Have to dig into John Grisham's 'The Appeal' for the other book club first.
Oh, and I finally finished Breaking Dawn. It got better after the first half of the book. It still wasn't as good as the others. When are we going to chat about the Twilight series??? I think there's lots to discuss. My friend Holly read all 4 books in 5 days (she was waiting for school to start). I think it's an addictive series. Did you see that Stephanie Meyer has another book out, 'The Host.' I bought it and plan on reading it sometime (4 books down the line hopefully as I have quite a few to catch up on). Also, I heard that she was going to put another book out, Twilight from Edward's perspective. But I guess there was a spoiler-- Somebody got a copy of the manuscript and made PDF's of most of the book... So it may not be printed after all.
Another disappointment, I'm upset that the Harry Potter movie got bumped from November to next summer! All for movie ticket sales predictions.
That's all for now. Toodles.

don't say that about harry potter! i'm already pissed about the seperation of the deathly hallows into two movies. it'll be 2012 before we see it all. anyway, i'm also waiting for bonk! from the library. like i might someday have free time again. i'm up for a twilight discussion whenever anyone else is. we've all completed it so feel free to post indescriminately. someday i'll be able to talk to you again.
